Level 1 - Puppies and Adult dogs.
Material covered: Lessons 1- 6 in your workbook
Leash Manners - Your pet will continue to learn nice manners while walking on his leash. You will learn
how to properly correct your pet if he pulls or lunges forward. We add distractions to his walking routine
and practice fun exercises to encourage him to stay near you while walking.

Sit and Stay - Teaching your dog the sit and stay exercise can help to eliminate unwanted behaviors such
as: jumping on guests, running out of doorways, behaving aggressively or displaying shyness. Your pet
will learn to sit and stay until you release him from his responsibilities.

Go to Your Place - A terrific exercise to teach the active, pushy pet. He will learn to go to his place (rug)
and lay down on command. This exercise can be used to help prevent unwanted behaviors such as:
excessive activity when company arrives, pushy behavior, begging near the table etc. Overly protective or
shy dogs also benefit from this exercise.

Lay Down - Your dog will learn to lay down on command. This exercise is useful to teach your dog to be
calm and quiet. It is easier for your dog to remain in a down stay than in a sit stay. He can maintain this
position longer and can relax.

Leave It - A great exercise to teach your pet not to steal food or grab nasty items off  of the ground. You
can teach your pet to "Leave It" for all items. It simply means, "Don't Touch."

Let Go, Give, or Out - If your pet "steals" an item, you should be able to easily take it from him. He
should not run and play "catch me if you can" or become possessive over the item.

Come When Called - Your dog should be able and willing to stop whatever he is doing and happily come
to you. We will practice various exercises to teach your dog to reliably come to you during a variety of
distractions.

When and How to Say "No" - You will learn when it is correct to say "No". Corrections are important,
but need to be given in a correct and timely manner in order to be effective and fair.

When and How to Use Food Rewards - You will learn how to properly use food rewards and schedules
of reinforcement. Your dog's good behavior can become reliable without the use of continual food
rewards.
