The American Kennel Club's Canine Good Citizenship (CGC) Program
Go to the American Kennel Club Canine Good Citizenship program
A key component of the CGC program is the 10-step CGC test.
All dogs (including pure and mixed breeds) who pass the CGC test
receive a certificate from the American Kennel Club.
1. Accepting a friendly stranger
2. Sit politely for petting
3. Appearance and grooming
4. Out for a walk
5. Walk through a crowd
6. Sit and down on command/staying in place
7. Come when called
8. Reaction to another dog
9. Reactions to distractions
10. Supervised separation
All coponents of the CGC program are covered in Level
2 of the classes at The Canine Center
CGC tests are conducted by certified AKC evaluators on
scheduled dates. CGC testing fee is $10 per dog.
